I think when we ask if AI is a force for good, an important thing to remember is that it’s just a tool. It’s how we use it that matters the most.
There are some clear upsides already, like in healthcare, productivity, and making things more accessible. But there are also real risks, like bias, job disruption and being a source of misinformation.
One really needs to spend time and effort fleshing out a problem before trying to solve it using AI. Technology is just an enabler and not a substitute for process improvements.
So for me, the question isn’t whether AI is good or bad. It’s how do we make sure it’s used in a good way? Maybe there needs to be more emphasis on the governance and policy-making surrounding AI.
Because in the end, the outcome depends on the choices we make.
