Hotel Ajanta ( Fish Thali Joint)

Filed in Food | Goa 3 Comments

Hotel Ajanta is one of my favorite fish thali joint in Panaji, Goa. It is located near old secretariat building. It is very popular among people who work in offices near this place.

Besides fish thali, I usually order Mackerel fry – my favorite fish. My mom likes Mori (Shark) curry from this place, which is prepared in goan traditional manner. If you visit during crab season, you might also want to try crab curry. :)

I would rate this place very high interms of quality of food, especially fish. This place has typical goan khanawal atmosphere, but if you don’t care too much for ambience and are looking for cheap/quick bite, I would definitely recommend a visit to this place between 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm ( I think it is closed on Sunday )

Sea Food at Sea Pebble

Filed in Food | Goa 3 Comments

Sea Pebble is located next to Dona Paula jetty, Goa. I love this place more because of its ambience. Having candle light dinner just next to sea makes it more special. And ofcourse music of waves hitting rocks sets the tone for memorable dinner.

Here we usually fill our stomach on starters and skip main course. One of my favorites is Surmai Rawa fry. If you are willing to experiment you should go with Surmai Masala Fry, this preparation is very specific to Goa region. Few other dishes that I recommend are Prawns fry, Mackerel Masala Fry and Pomfret rawa fry. Quality of sea food is awesome so you can order any of your favorite Sea Foods.

This place is a bit expensive, but it is worth the money and would strongly recommend if you are in Goa.

Jai Hind – (Fish Joint)

Filed in Food 3 Comments

Jai Hind is one of our favorite fish joints. Today we decided to have fish feast and left office at around 8.00pm. As usual Mumbai traffic rules the roads. So we left rickshaw and decided to walk to the nearest railway station. It took us around 30+ min to reach Ghatkopar railway station.

Finally we reached Jai Hind, Parel at around 9.30 pm. A few of our friends had already reached early and reserved the table. We quickly placed order: Masala Pomfret fry, Green Masala Pomfret fry, Prawns tawa and various fish combination thali’s. As usual quality of food was awesome. All of us were quite hungry and moment food came we all pounced on it. Finally sol kadhi added perfect finishing touch to our outing. Thanx to Yashi for wonderful treat :)

I must say if you ever visit mumbai, don’t forget to visit Jai Hind. There are few Jai Hind branches all over Mumbai. But we always go to Parel, since its quite convinient and resonable in terms of price.
