Travel – Bijapur (Day 1)

30th September 2008

This was one of the most awaited trip for long time. We took 9.10 pm Hussain Express train from CST to Solhapur. We reached Solhapur at around 5.45 am, Then Solhapur to Bijapur train (6.05). Living on the edge…

1st October 2008

Gol Gumbaz is one of the main attraction of Bijapur. We decided to walk since it is situated next to railway station. It took us around 10 min to reach to Gol Gumbaz. We hired a Guide to explain / give us more details on this historical monument. Hiring guide turned out to be smartest decision of the day. Bijapur has second largest dome in the world, largest is at St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome.

There are around 8 main tourist sites in Bijapur. We took tanga, which helped us to cover all the places before 1.00 pm. So we decided leave for Badami. We took bus from Bijapur to Bagalkot and then another bus to Badami. We reached Badami at around 6.00 pm.

We stayed at Hotel Raj Sangam which is located next to bus stand. Rooms were quite clean and we managed to get good deal for group of 8.

Snowboarding ….

December 2, 2007 – Tahoe, US

I use to always wonder and get amazed by people who do snowboarding and thought it was impossible for me to do such stuff. But i was wrong today i had my first experience with snow boarding.

I bet its though, right from wearing those tight and heavy shoes to getting down from chair which lifts to uphill from where you can slide down.

Bob gave me few lessons and do’s and don’t on snowboarding. After few falls and tremblings i manage to do some descend snowboarding.

For me it was great experience and had lots of fun …..

Desolation Hike @ Tahoe

December 1, 2007

Weather forecast was cloudy and there would be no snow. I was bit disappointed hearing this but Hiking at Tahoe is always special.

Bob, Dave and me left the house at around 9.00 am. We drove for about 45 min to reach Desolation Wilderness trailhead. It was bit breezy and also started to snow. I was freezing until got my warm cloths on.

Hiking in snow is a different experience for me. Got our bags on and we started the trail.

Tikona Trek

September 17, 2006

It has been a while that we had gone for trekking. Trekking in rains is very special, I realized this during my last years Mahuli Trek. So my office group(claudi, manish, yashi, rupam, sanjay, raju n me) decided to trek Tikona. We hired a vehicle to take us to Gavhande village start of Trek.

As usual i got up early around 5.00 am, had nice cold water bath, filled by camel back with water/snacks and set out to catch BEST bus. I was suppose to meet the remaining gang at Powai. As usual girls made us wait for around 30 min, and we started our commute to Gavhande village.

We took a break on highway to feast on Vada Pav. Finally we started our trek around 11.00 am. Weather was pleasant and it looked like we might get rain showers on our way to top. As usual we had few photo stops till it started drizzling.

As we started our climb it started raining heavy. It’s always great fun trekking in rains. After around 2 hours, we reached on top. It was an amazing view. Wind and rain became more strong so we decided to start our descend. I packed my camera and kept it inside my camel bag. Few of us had good falls coming down as rains made the path very slippery. Finally after an hour we reached our vehicle. I decided to click few photos. So i opened my bag only to see my camera was completely submerged in water that had accumulated in my bag. This trek turned out to be the most expensive trek for me. :)
